KORAPUT: Contractors working with the Rural Water Supply and Sanitation (RWSS) in Koraput district have announced an idefinite strike on Tuesday, alleging departmental harassment and delayed payment of bills.
Over 50 contractors gathered under the banner of 'Maa Jagat Janani Contractors Association' and sat on strike at the department's sub-divisional office at Jeypore and submitted a memorandum to the district administration, listing their demands.International bulk sms service
"The sub-divisional officer of Jeypore is deliberately harassing the contractors and misbehaving with them. The officer concerned never goes to the fields even after repeated requests, nor does he prepare bills. Lakhs of rupees of severa; contractors have been pending for the past several months and the officer remains uncooperative," alleged Mukesh Biswal, president of the association.
